24 Raker Carbon Tool Steel Bandsaw Blade for Metal

SuperCut Premium Carbon Tool Steel Blades will cut almost anything that can be filed with a standard hand file, including wood, metals, mild steel, and plastic, provided your blade speed is correct for the material being cut. Made from the toughest alloys, with a high silicon content. They feature precision milled, heat-treated teeth and a flexible back. They are our most versatile blade, suitable for all types of wood, metals, mild steel, and plastics.(Most metal products should be cut with a blade speed of under 200feet per minute.) And of course, they all come with our standard warranty on each weld, even the 1/8” scrolling blade.

Wood is generally cut at blade speeds of 1000 to 4000 fpm (feet per minute). Plastics are generally cut at slower blade speeds (200 to 800 fpm) to keep the plastic from melting back together behind the blade as it cuts. Soft metals (such as aluminum, copper, and brass) are cut at speeds of 200 to 1000 fpm, as long as a good release agent is used on the blade to keep the metal from sticking in the blade gullets. Mild steel products are cut at 40 to 200 fpm, preferably with a liquid coolant running on the blade.

NOTE: All cutting should follow the simple rule of no less than 2 teeth in contact with the cut at all times, while not allowing more than approximately 10 teeth to contact the cut. Any fewer than 2 teeth in contact can allow the material to drop into the gullet of the blade, causing teeth to shear off. Allowing more than approximately 10 teeth to contact the cut can cause the teeth to not remove the waste effectively and can cause binding in the cut and also damage the teeth and set.

64 1/2" Band Saw Blades

These Bi-metal blades have been a very good purchase. I've used the them for cutting wood and thermoform plastics to stainless steel to tool steel without a hitch. They have maintained their sharpness, doing everything I've asked of them. At this point, I'm looking to see if I can find this same blade material in bulk rolls and a blade welder to provide better cost benefit, but for the average user, they certainly appear to be worth the money for these pre-fab, individual blades.
